GP Team Members

Andrew Meo - Slim (Director). Based in Lombardia as still chasing the dream of a Pro contract. Strict enforcer during rides. Models himself on Guiseppe Saronni who inspired him when he won Worlds at Goodwood in 1982.
David Meo - Davis (Assistant Director). Reportedly the best amateur climber in Wellington. Always appears to be running late and does not understand the meaning of an easy ride. Always pressures the Communications Officer to bring the start earlier.
Felix Meo (The Director's Assistant). Often seen at the Director's side acting as an interpreter in tricky situations. Developing into quite the bike rider, Felix has taken to living in the land of milk and honey as quickly as the Director can say 'White Horse'.
Adam Alexander - our newest signing and a talent in the making in more ways than one. Check out Adam's photographic and architectural handiwork at his blog, The Subliminal Oblivion. Has had more than his fair share of tickets from the Assistant Director for violating the sock rules on numerous occasions.
Rick Armstrong - Car salesman. Took training bike standards into the stratosphere with Pinarello Dogma and Lightweights. Sponsors the odd bike race and the Prestige hill climb from Hataitai bus tunnel to summit of Mt Vic. Fastest verified time for 2011 will have exclusive use of a car from one of Rick's lots for 6 months.
Brent Backhouse - Backy (Communications Officer). Qualified for Meo GP through performances on the bike and adherence to the code of conduct. Always abreast of latest technical developments as shown by the early appearance of Campag 2011 levers on training bike, iPad. Also operates the Karori weather office.
David Barnett - Guiseppe, Barney, Stonker. Recapturing the form that gave him the KOM title in the Dulux Tour over 20 years ago by undertaking a weight loss regime tougher than Jenny Craig's. Has a new goal of being the first GP rider to achieve the Bronze Cadence Club level at Lake Taupo fun ride after failure to capture the King of the Funrider title in 2008. Usually found in Capital Cycles, but now contemplating a career change to male hairdresser to match the new champagne coloured SAAB convertible.
Joe Cooper - JC. Makara record holder in 6min 18secs seated. Only professional accepted into GP fold. Makes the veteran and gentleman riders feel young.
Silas Cullen. Pushes the boundaries with a training bike that breaches code of conduct to greatest extent. Competitive rider who turns up early to ride starts!
Tom Finlay - The 'real' Tom Finlay. Was offered a position at the Metservice for being able to accurately pick the wind shifts, but turned down the offer and started Wellington's first cycle courier business.
Jonathan Hales - Jono. Attended high school with Davis but was required to upgrade to Cervelo and BMC to be allowed to ride. Breaches code of conduct by refusing to burn Wellington Harriers singlet and by putting Backy out of action for six weeks last year by taking him running.
Matt Harrop. Triathlon is Matt's background, but we're working hard to move him over from the dark side and see the roadie light. 4th in his age group at the recent Tri World Champs in Beijing, Matt has the potential to be a top all-rounder on the road.
Jeffrey Healey - Jeff. Works in IT at HP, backing up the 'solutions' that Glenno provides to unwitting customers. Uses a Garmin GPS unit, which comes in very handy when Glenno is off his leash.
Ian Kirkman - Kirky (Head of Research - HOR). Also known as 'Mr Map' after demonstrating superior navigation skills on the GP Europe trip. Only accepted into GP after giving up post ride samosas and starting to drink coffee. Now based in Timaru.
Craig Loveridge. Invited to the GP by Barney after he met the minimum requirement of two BMC road machines and deep section wheels. Is thinking of moving from Mt Crawford South so he can take part in the Seatoun residents sprint. Surprised The Director by ordering a hot chocolate.
Luke McDermott. Progressing rapidly up the ranks, Luke is a young gun with talent to burn, especially when the road turns skywards. Distinctive on the road with pro style cap under helmet.
Glenn Owen - Rabid Dog, Bronwyn, Glenno. Often seen running free on Lyall Bay Beach. Usually attends the start of the ride but not seen again until the coffee stop. Provides interference for Antosh’s commentary. Rides an out of fashion Colnago. Claims to work as “A Solutions Provider”.
Tom Paulin. Has a year round tan that rivals George Hamilton. In the running for Wellington Bachelor of the Year award - Tom would like us to point out that it was his 'friends' that entered him into the competition. Reminds me of a Tui ad. Currently MIA.
David Rowlands - The Good Doctor. Dave has been known to formulate a good recovery product or two in his time. Spends the off season working in European laboratories formulating 'recovery products' for the GP team.
Daniel Shepherd - Blue Bars. Developing into a sprint force to be reckoned with, Dan's goal is to take Lovers mantle as King of the Box Hill Khandallah Sprint. Time will tell, but we're picking the young fella to take the crown.
Raymond Tomlinson - Ray. Turns up to GP rides infrequently, but mainly because his cousin (Davis) or brother in-law (Barney) put the hurt on and drop him. Provides stake money for the Joe Tomlinson sprint by way of discounts to GP members needing their house washed.
James Truebridge. Originally from Canada, James has the potential to do it all. Time trial, climb, sprint, tour riding. Sky's the limit for this young man.
