Meanwhile in the Land of Milk and Honey...

Fears over the White Horse's safety during the Assistant Directors recent visit to the land of milk and honey were put to rest after the image below came to light.

Rumours of bribery and kidnapping prompted the resistance movement into action, whisking the white beauty underground during the Assistant Directors brief stay.

The Director reports that the White Horse is in good condition with a renewed vigor in his stride since returning from the ordeal.

It ain't all glamour in the good land though... Slim has been working hard to put food on the table of late.

The White Horse

White Horse at 1975 TDF
Seen here at the 1975 Tour de France, the White Horse is the fabled mascot of the GP.

What was once a childhood competition to pass the time while bored in the back seat of their parents car (Slim & Davis), was adapted to the bicycle, where if one spots a White Horse while out riding, they automatically gain a 30 second time bonus. In a group situation, the first person to call 'White Horse' takes the time bonus. False calls incur a time penalty of 30 seconds.

The White Horse competition is one of many such competitions on the road during GP rides. In addition, there's the Sprints competition which features the Makara town sprint, Tomlinson sprint, Backhouse Interiors sprint, KKK sprint, Seatoun sprint and various zebra crossings (ranked in order of importance, respectively). The KOM competition (featuring various cols around the Wellington region) and Glenno has his own competition drafting trucks and other random vehicles.

The real White Horse resides in Crema and made an appearance at the dinner table during the GP trip to Europe last year. The White Horse was under the watchful eye of the Director during the course of the entire evening, and an attempted mission to bring the horse back to New Zealand failed, even though generous bribes were offered to the Directors assistant.

The White Horse

Mid-way through the GP Christmas lunch it was noticed by The Director that the White Horse trophy had gone missing.

The White Horse is a symbol of power and time bonus's and coveted by all in the know.

Whilst there were several suspects, it was thought that Davis Meo was secretly trying to take over GP directorship by holding the coveted White Horse hostage. This was later confirmed when the White Horse appeared in true punter fashion, strapped to Davis' handlebar stem at a GP ride (next he will have a bell on his handlebars).

Now, the power of the Director should never be under estimated, both on the bike as well as off the bike. The Director then mounted a daring lone raid on Davis sock draw, and as expected, located the fabled horse and rescued it from the very orderly draw where it was being held captive. As the Director is ruthless, Slim then messed up the sock draw, as the most defiant act of retaliation.

The White Horse was then concealed from New Zealand customs and smuggled out of New Zealand. The Director in his true wisdom knew that the White Horse would be the ultimate symbol of power in the hot bed of international cycling.

The White Horse has been enjoying residence in Crema under the watchful and caring eye of the Director, where time bonus's are being amassed in plenty.

With Davis the horse wrangler about to show up in town, the White Horse has fled under the cover of darkness and is thought to be hiding in an under ground cellar with members of the local resistance movement.

Apparently the Director has now been thinking about the purchase of a Black Cat.
